On the 21st of August ericaamerica opened the long awaited Looking Out exhibition at the John Curtin Gallery. Featuring the work of 5 fashion labels with an international work base, the gallery povided a close up look at the intricate details and hand crafting of the label's work as has never been on offer to the public before.
"So much of our work is in the

detail" says Erica "and in photoshoots or runway shows you can't always appreciate that. We much prefer working in an environment like this where we can really have an opportunity to let people see our work and our vision with such clarity." Inspired by the dioramas in New York's famous Museum of Natural History, the work takes the trademark Victorian style of the ericaamerica photoshoot and presents the vision in 3 dimensions. Within the confines of the museum display "cabinet" four characters straight from the ericaamerica world gather at "base camp", ever vigilant and watchful as their on going guerilla war spreads revolutions throughout the hills and valleys below. The images you see here are shot in full color, the work itself is presented completely in shades of sepia tone, recalling the long established historical stylings of the label.
"Each and every aspect of this

work had to me made from scratch or significantly altered to appear as life is through the sepia lens" says Lucas, "Even the sand we filled the floor with had to especially chosen for it's color appropriate qualities.

Looking Out ran from the 22nd of August to the 10th of October at the John Curtin Gallery, Western Australia.
