In celebration, November 7th of 2008 saw the opening of "Innovators 4: 1968" at the Linden Contemporary Arts Centre in St Kilda, Victoria.
A multi arts survey of Western Australia's leading contemporary art practioners,
the show presented a range of interpretations of the theme 1968.
Being known historically as the "Year of The Barricades" the theme of revolution was a natural fit for us here at ericaamerica, and we took the opportunity to really open the doors to ericaamerica world.
Creating an installation entirely in sepia (the photos that accompany this article have not been doctored - they are full colour images of the installation itself) gives the impression you are entering the shady centre of revolution in ericaamerica world, through the frame of an old sepia photograph.
The ericaamerica "Watchers" monitor the movement of
revolution around the globefrom their secret war room, in which every piece from ornate painted vases to military campaign maps and observational equipment was hand made from scratch specifically for the installation by the designers here at ericaamerica.

After opening to the public on the 8th of November the ericaamerica installation "The Watchers" shows as part of this exciting exhibition at the gallery until the 14th of December, 2008. So if your in Victoria go down to St Kilda and see what promises to be a very important show.

On the 21st of August ericaamerica opened the long awaited "Looking Out" exhibition at the John Curtin Gallery.
Featuring the work of 5 fashion labels with an international work base, the gallery povided a close up look at the intricate details and hand crafting of the label's work as has never been on offer to the public before.
"So much of our work is in the detail" says Erica "and in photoshoots or runway shows you can't always appreciate that. We much prefer working in an environment like this where we can really have an opportunity to let people see our work and our vision with such clarity."
Inspired by the dioramas in New York's famous Museum of Natural History, the work takes the trademark Victorian style of the ericaamerica photoshoot and presents the vision in 3 dimensions. Within the confines of the museum display "cabinet" four characters straight from the ericaamerica world gather at "base camp", ever vigilant and watchful as their on going guerilla war spreads revolutions throughout the hills and valleys below.
The images you see here are shot in full color, the work itself is presented completely in shades of sepia tone, recalling the long established historical stylings of the label. "Each and every aspect of this work had to me made from scratch or significantly altered to appear as life is through the sepia lens" says Lucas, "Even the sand we filled the floor with had to especially chosen for it's color appropriate qualities.
Looking Out runs from the 22nd of August to the 10th of October at the John Curtin Gallery.
